Josh Morris
Josh’s love for the outdoors started when he was young boy growing up in NH, attending day camp at Melody Pines in Manchester, and summer camp at Camp Belknap in the Lakes Region. Participating in the Early Man Unit and Cardigan Mountain overnight backpacking trip through McKelvie Middle School in Bedford, NH left an indelible mpression. These experiences taught Josh about flora and fauna identification, basic primitive skills, as well as, hiking and camping skills.
The love for the outdoors was further strengthened when he started working in the landscape industry through high school and college years where he graduated from NH College with a BA in Business Administration. Having years of experience building various types of landscape construction projects, coupled with his love for the outdoors and hiking, seems to be natural fits with trail maintenance. So after leaving the equipment industry where he enjoyed a successful career as salesman to pursue a more fulfilling life outdoors. Josh decided to, as he puts it, “give back to something he has gotten so much out of” and decided to join CHVTC. How fitting to join the club that helps maintain the trails on Mount Cardigan. A feeling of coming full circle especially being elected to the BOD in 2023. Since joining CHTVC in 2022, Josh has help maintain trails on Cardigan, Sunapee, and Kearsage as a Level 1 Team leader to earning his Level 2 Team Leader in 2024.
Notable hiking accomplishments: 2007 48 4000’, 2019 67 New England 4000’, also finished 100 Highest Peaks of NE in 2019. Currently chasing Winter 48 4K’s & finishing his 2nd round (3 season) of 48 4K’s & 52 With A View. Independently leads hikes year round both day and overnight backpacking throughout NH and the White Mountains. One of which he has been leading annually for the past 8 years.
Josh asks that you please consider joining Cardigan Highland Trail Crew for a day out on the trail volunteering your time. Get out in Nature, enjoy the fresh air and beauty of the outdoors with its scenic views. Go at your own pace while learning basic trail maintenance skills. You may be surprised on how good it is for the soul. Keep on hiking!
