6/17/26: Andrew Brook Trail Patrol
By 1100 on Wed 6/17, two of us started up Andrew Brook Trail in Newbury NH. We hiked to where a short relocation climbs a ridgetop to K Bridge. Hikers are heeding barricades we added last September and staying on the new path, causing less erosion. We added two more blazes just to guide them even more surely, then came our lunch.
After lunch we crossed K Bridge and followed the trail uphill, raking drains as we went. We soon reached the register house lagged onto a largish tree. The photo shows that register house is now a shrine. Per the 1st Amendment, we let it be.
We carried on uphill till we'd raked all 17 drains below the 3rd crossing of Andrew Brook. Several of them we re-dug to design spec with a shovel. We then descended to Mtn Rd. 2 x 5 = 10 hours of work.
The weather forecast has 1" of rain. What parts of the trail we could reach is as ready as we could make it.
