6/14/25: Mount Kearsarge, Winslow Trail Patrol

6/14/25 WINSLOW TRAIL

Volunteers turned out in good numbers, eight of them: Dustin, Ashley, Ben, Jon, Andrew K., Bill, TL Scott, TM Craig. The light rain was not so apparent under the thick canopy of summer leaves, and up they went. In six hours they...

1) Raked and re-dug all 24 drains;

2) Barricaded 6 herd paths, some for the second time;

3) Removed and replaced 8' of log waterbar with a new and sounder log from a blowdown, held by new pin rocks;

4) Above the powerline, built a 24-rock scree wall of jagged stones to better define the trail.  Hikers like straight lines, the woods don't  cooperate very well.

The crew showed a very positive "can do" attitude, it was a pleasure to work with them.  Mind, that is like most volunteers everywhere. The hikers are lucky to have such good trail tenders, and they all thanked the crew. Just a really good day for all.
